In the Do It Yourself era, we are often tempted to try and make our own cosmetic products to take care of our bodies. Here are a few ideas for natural body scrubs that you can make at home, that are both original and economical. Guaranteed not tested on animals!
A body scrub can regenerate the skin and eliminate dead cells. It makes the skin soft and silky, as long as you don’t overdo it: once or twice a week is enough for perfectly smooth skin.
It’s very simple: mix all the ingredients together in a bowl, and apply it to your skin.
Application: Apply to wet or dry skin, massage into the skin in circular movements for a few minutes, and then rinse thoroughly. It is important to massage from your feet towards your head to promote circulation. If you don’t use all of your scrub, you can always keep it in a sealed container.
1 – A lazy scrub for holidays
You can simply take a handful of sand from the beach and mix it with suncream or body lotion. The cheapest solution!
2 – Essential oils with a thousand virtues:
Each essential oil has its own properties, and you can choose in accordance with your needs (a drying effect, a purifying effect, etc…). Here is an example:
You will need:
– 3 large dessertspoons of salt
– 4 dessertspoons of sesame oil
– 1 dessertspoon of liquid honey
– 10 drops of grapefruit essential oil
3 – Vegetable oil, shower gel or shea butter for a gentler scrub:
To be mixed with sugar, large grains of salt or almond powder. Bearing in mind that a ‘thicker’ scrub using things like large grains of salt will be more aggressive on the skin, it is important not to overdo it, to avoid drying and irritation.
4 – If you are missing some ingredients:
Sugar, honey and olive oil are enough to make a scrub, which is also suitable for the face and scalp.
You can play with the following ingredients: lemon, green tea, lavander…. according to your needs, your likes, or what you have in your cupboards!
