Also known as rhinopharyngitis, the common cold is a classic winter illness in adults and children alike. It is not in fact an infection, but rather caused by a virus. And over the course of around ten days on average, this illness manifests itself via a whole host of symptoms, one more disagreeable than the next: fever, sneezing, sore throat, blocked nose, runny nose or even a blocked nose that keeps running -in short, all you need to make you nice and miserable!

Fortunately, colds are generally harmless, but we should still try and treat them. So as well as getting rest, a few essential oils could help you to feel better faster. Here are the best options for rapid healing:

Eucalyptus radiata essential oil can decongest the respiratory passages and most importantly, prevent the cold from developing into a superbug. You can use it in several ways to make the most of its effects. Don’t hesitate to use it as a toning massage, or to inhale its vapours by breathing it in deeply for several minutes. You can also diffuse a few drops in a diffuser for around ten minutes before going to sleep.
