Foods that relieve constipation and bloating:
Fennel promotes good digestion and reduces bloating and gas. It also has anti-spasmodic properties. You can remediate your digestion problems with 1 to 2 grams of dried fennel seeds 1 to 3 times a day. Infusing 1 to 3 grams of fennel seeds in 150 mls of boiling water for around 10 minutes, and drinking 2 to 3 cups a day can also be a good option. Note that it is not recommended that you exceed 7 g of fennel seeds per day.
2) Caraway seeds
These seeds eliminate gastric cramps, intestinal parasites and gas, while also stimulating digestion. They can also prevent gas. It is recommended that you chew a few seeds after meals.
Ginger is effective not only for bloating, but also for abdominal pain and gas. If you suffer from constipation, you have found the ideal laxative and means of prevention. You can use it by adding ½ teaspoon of freshly chopped ginger to a glass of boiling water. Leave it to infuse for around ten to fifteen minutes and strain it. Leave it cool and drink it.
Pineapple is great for preventing constipation and fighting against bloating. One of its enzymes, bromelain, supports the digestion process. What’s more, part of this enzyme passes through the blood stream, which allows it to cleanse the blood and fight against prostaglandins which cause inflammation.
One of the many qualities of peppermint is that it is good for the digestive system. We can turn to peppermint in the cases of gastro-intestinal intoxication, indigestion or diarrhea, and it also limits gas, cramps and bloating. You can take it in gel capsules or make an infusion with 1 dessertspoon of dried peppermint leaves and 150 mls of boiling water. Leave it to infuse for 10 minutes and drink it two or three times a day.
Chamomile is the sworn enemy of cramps, gas, bloating, constipation and inflammation in the intestines. Drink it as an infusion made from a dessertspoon of dried flowers left to infuse for 5 to 10 minutes in 150 mls of boiling water. Drink it two to three times a day.
Papaya is a veritable goldmine of vitamin C, but it also contains other vitamins, fibre, minerals and organic acids. Its enzyme, papain, breaks down the proteins that cause gas, bloating and constipation. In medicine, this enzyme is widely used for digestive illnesses.
Consumed before a meal, it is an excellent way of preventing gas, constipation or the formation of kidney stones. It can also help stimulate the appetite and promote better digestion. And if that wasn’t enough, it is also a diuretic, meaning it helps eliminate toxins!
9) Apple cider vinegar and lemon
These two ingredients are well worth knowing about in the case of bloating and constipation, as their fibre promotes good digestion while their acidity softens the stools and promotes digestive transit. To consume the vinegar, dilute one or two dessertspoons in a glass of water. If you prefer to try the lemon, squeeze a half a lemon and fill the rest of the glass up with lukewarm water.
